Almost Here!

Ahhhhh. The new year is almost here, and I can completely say I am beyond ready for this new year. Besides the fact that this is my final high school year, I will also be starting my internship for college soon, as well as finishing up a few new art classes my parents signed me up for to improve my skills. But on a more interesting note... I FINALLY GOT MY JEFF CAMPBELL LITAS! (I know, I know, I'm ecstatic too) I bought my Lita booties in a cat tapestry print from Nordstrom, at my local mall. To test drive these babies, I walked around the mall for two hours in them. Sadly must I say, they were very comfortable. The bootie was very tight, and squeezed my toes on the inside. I think I will have to return them for a bigger size or hope that this is just the "breaking in" process because I do not want to give up these amazing shoes! Strolling around the mall for only two hours, I received over four compliments on these babies! I hope they're worth the pain!

In other news, I have decided to create a new financial plan for myself because spending every last penny I have has proven to be an unsuccessful method. Instead of blowing every last dime with my shopping addiction, I have now decided to keep purchases as rewards for each month. Every month I will allow myself to splurge on ONE luxury item, and three inexpensive items. I already have my luxury item picked for January.... hello Michael Kors purse my mom never bought me for Christmas.. bitch. Haha! But yeah, I hope I can stick to this spending cycle for once and save up some money on my own.. Anyways Happy New Year! xox Lenka

Look of the Day: December 16

Today's look is a lil' rockabilly chic! The denim vest and leather skirt are thrifted. The grey cardigan (worn underneath vest) is from Garage. The purple bodysuit was found at Urban Outfitters. The combat boots are from Steve Madden.. (I have them in brown too! sososo worth it!) The stockings are Betsey Johnson, and the purse is thrifted Anne Klein, and matches with absolutely everything in my closet. One of my favorite bags ever. OH! and the lipstick is Orange Flip by Revlon.

Chunky Monkey

Well now that the weather is getting colder, everyone's bringing out the chunky warm snow boots.... but what am I bringing out? Well, let's just say that I like chunky... chunky HEELS that is! Not only are these shoes gorgeous, but they are also super comfy! (you can last the entire night out dancing in these bad boys.. without annoying blisters!) My current favorites would have to be the nude Munsch from Aldo, black leather Irina II from Bloomingdales, as well as the Gavin Platform from NastyGal. So while you're shopping for that super warm cashmere sweater next time you're at your favorite department store, don't forget to purchase a pair of chunky heels... because who says you can't rock heels in frigid weather!

Unbelievable!

Have you ever come across something that really made you stop and say, "...WOW!"? Well if you have then you'll know what I mean, and if you haven't, then feast your eyes on this!

Amazing right?!?!

This amazing chalk artist (also known as illusionist) has been creating tromp l'oeil pieces of art ever since the mid 90's! (those of you unfamiliar with the french term, tromp l'oeil means to deceive the eye) This art technique creates an optical illusion by involving extremely realistic imagery to portray a flat drawing in three dimensions. Julian Beever has demonstrated his talents on the pavements of England, France, Germany, Australia, Belgium, and even here in the US! While some pieces are only about five feet in size, others range up to thirty feet long and appear to be three feet high! Can you believe that?! It's crazy how a simple piece of colored chalk can create such a masterpiece. "My art is for anybody, it's for people who wouldn't go into an art gallery. It's art for the people." said the artist in a recent interview. Glorious, gasp-woethy and even eye-stopping cannot suffice the glory in this unique art. Hope you guys were as starstruck as I was!

I met God at Michael Kors...

I came in just to do some browsing and check up on my soon to be lovely (the Hamilton large black leather tote with gold hardware) and as I was checking out all the other handbags, comparing to make sure I was making the right choice.. I came across GOD... gorgeous black leather combat boots embossed in adorable little golden studs. I HAD TO HAVE THEM. So of course I went over and began talking to a sales associate, (who by the way was extremely nice and complimented me almost immediately) and then came the not so big surprise... the price. These beauties run for a meer three hundred and fifty dollars (saying this with complete sarcasm.. and a tear.. or two..) So unfourtnelly I had to put these beautiful babies back on the shelf.. but maybe when I'm not so broke I can afford them... (like in five hours...when it's my birthday haha) Well.. I know you're all waiting for a visual now.. so feast your eyes on these babies...

...and of course I can't forget this beauty too (hopefully soon to be mine) *HINTHINTMOMGETMETHISFORXMASORELSEHINT*

Ahh and don't they look so wonderful together?! Welp.. a girl can dream right?

I can't get enough of PJ

Her songs are so different from what the world is use to. Experimenting with folk, electronica, alternative rock, and pop, PJ Harvey has been able to write lyrics created from issues going on in the world. Singing lines like "What if I take my problem to the United Nation," and "On Battleship Hills caved in trenches, a hateful feeling still lingers, even now 80 years later," Harvey says she wanted to find a way, shape, or form to deal with the world in songs. She also says she wanted the  music to be electrifying, and meaningful. Starting with just singing a few words off a paper, she progressed into making an album of twelve exemplifying songs, sure to make you not only dance.. but also think.

Look of the Day: December 8

Todays outfit is a little 70's bohemia inspired. The silk shirt top is thrifted, the skirt is from Forever 21 and cost me like five dollars (can you say staple item?!), the boots are from Steve Madden (my second pair of combats from there.. they are TO DIE FOR..über cute, and comfy), cross body bag is from Urban Outfitters, and the wool tights are from TopShop, (so warm and comfy!)

Call It Infatuation..

Okay, so my favorite style of the moment would have to be NEON BLAZERS! A big hit in the late 80's, these colorful jackets are known to put you the spotlight of fashion! Neon blazers put such a fun spin on the professional, well constructed blazer look... the only problem is.... they are pretty freakin' hard to find.. But you know I'm not here to disappoint so I found a few beauties worth listing..

Ahhhhh I can't... They are just too precious. The neon yellow blazer can be found at Nemain Marcus, and we're in luck because it's on sale for only $43. The bright blue blazer with a black lapel can be purchased at NastyGal, and the turquoise blazer can be found on Etsy. Lastly the orange and green blazers are both vintage and can be found on Ebay...(Psssttt vintage lovers!.. the green blazer is a vintage Kenzo piece for only $35! FOR KENZO!!! Sooo grab it before I find a way to rob a bank and purchase it!) OH and I also found this breathtaking jacket in bright, almost neon white from American Apparel.

Enjoy the spotlight! xox Lenka

PUMPED.

So.... I just got off the phone with one of Anthropologie's managers and.. they want me to do their internship!!! But of course, nothing is yet set in stone.. (the manager said I need to talk to my guidance counselor to ensure I receive credit for the internship) Ahhh I'm so ecstatic! I've always been a fan of Anthroplogie. From their très chic bedding, to their adorable little dresses, and jewelry (even though they're pretty pricey and I can't afford anything, it's still fun to window-shop!)... I actually applied there for a job about a year or two ago but because I wasn't old enough to work yet, I didn't get the job, but they did tell me to contact them the day I turned 18 (which is this friday by the way!!!!)

But seriously.. how cute are these...

Anyways, everything is going so well for me this week.. I also got some information on bartending (a job I've wanted to switch over to ever since I got into retail.. retail=ass) The man over at Mix 'Em Up Bartending School was extremely helpful and answered all my noobie questions. Whelp, after about an hour of talking he brought up that they're having a X-mas special this month.. for only $395, you can get your degree in bartending.. which made me really excited because as I've mentioned before... I'm broke and I can barely afford anything as it is, so getting a degree for a side job at this low rate with a lifetime of job placement really put a smile on my face. Maybe I'll be able to pay for college after all! Haha

The New Best Coast?

Although Best Coast has been around a little while now, I really got into their music this past summer. Well, fortunately enough, I was able to stumble upon a group somewhat similar to Best Coast, but with a rockier edge. The group, originally called Mika Miko gained a reputation for their spunky performances, but unfortunately broke up last year. But not to worry, because rising from their remains came a "new" group called Bleached; a duo made up of MM's Jessica and Jennifer Clavin, that just released their newest single, "Electric Chair" last week. And voilà, a great track full of energy and good vibes! OH and no wonder Bleached sound a bit like Best Coast... they're both from the Los Angeles area, where it's all about care free living, music you can dance to, and sand between your toes! Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
